Community guidelines
A few rules keep 11k+ members useful to each other. Please read them before your first post.
The rules
- No self-promotion of your own content, links, blogposts or lists unless you are responding to questions from others or sharing discounts, events and deals in channels 06 to 09
- When responding to questions or requests of others, please share full links or documents instead of lead magnet websites where members need to first sign up to access any information
- Please always check the channel description before posting and do not use @here or @channel
- Please respond to questions using the thread function, not as a new message
- Please do not double post in multiple channels
- Please never send the same direct message to more than 3 people at the time, we consider this as spam
- When asking questions, please share what you have come across already in your question post, for example when looking for data on early stage valuations, please share links you already discovered
Slack channel overview
00-announcementsWeekly community updates- This is our READ ONLY channel where we, the i12m team, share weekly community updates. If you have news to share with other members (product beta, completed fundraise, producthunt launch, master thesis survey etc) please get in touch with a team member.
01-introductionsTell us about your background and how you can help others- Do not promote your product, service, launch or fundraise. Please introduce yourself: who are you, what brings you here, what are you working on, how can you help the community?
02-jobs-feedOur feed of investor, operator and innovator jobs- Please add new jobs only via innovatorsroom.com/add-job, so we can post them here and a selection in our newsletter. Please also do not post candidate CVs here; instead please ask them to join our Slack and intro themselves.
03-best-practice-questionsThe place to ask questions- Our main channel to ask our community for advice on how to build your company, product or service.Example: I am looking for insights around scaling b2b marketplaces in Europe? So far have come across innvtrs.com/3svKFeK but looking for something more SaaS and/or Europe specific?
04-resources-to-shareData and document sharing- This channel is for sharing useful how-tos, databases or lists of startups, funds, tools etc.Example: Some nice data points on VC funding vs market cap: foundercollective.medium.com/dont-overdose-on-vc-lessons-from-166-startup-ipos-c94f3c178dfe
05-networking-requestsAsking for specific introductions- Please share "what you want to talk about with whom". This is the place to look for introductions to fellow InnovatorsRoom members and their friends who might not be part of our community yet.Example: Looking to speak with product managers who have transitioned from big-tech to seed-stage startups to learn more about how I can prepare for my upcoming career move.
06-events-by-membersUpcoming events and webinars of community members- Please share events relevant to other community members. Please only share each event once. If you have more than 2 events per month to share here, please get in touch with the team.Example: Founders, investors and CFOs in Berlin, please come check out the free Torq drinks on Torstrasse tonight 6pm: innvtrs.com/3v0VmGD
07-discounts-for-membersShare product discounts- Please use this channel if you have a special discount deal for our members. For collaborations please get in touch with the team.
08-founders-looking-for-investmentShare deal flow- If you have a startup or fund investment deal to share please add it here in max 10 bullet points incl name and key metrics. Since many investors are skeptical of deals shared publicly, please also let us know why you are sharing it here.
09-investors-looking-for-dealflowRequest deal flow- If you are an investor you can share which type of deals you are looking for.
10-freelance-projectsFind a freelancer- Please specify your needs, approximate budget and project start date. For full time hires please add roles via innovatorsroom.com/add-job.Example: I am looking for a Freelance Consultant for a PMO project in Automotive (~3 months, German required, day rate ~1000 EUR, slightly negotiable), start ASAP.
Questions we get asked
- Where can I post my own or someone else's CV?
- Please use your introduction post to let the community know about your background, and if you are looking for a new opportunity.
- Why can I not use my company email for Slack?
- Due to the Slack user architecture, it is not possible to update or change emails of active Slack accounts; instead we need to delete the account connected to the old email and re-invite a new email address, meaning you lose access to any messages. In order to reduce future admin work for our small team we ask members to use a personal, long term email, since professional emails tend to change every few years and we are already receiving support requests from members who cannot access their old work email account anymore. You can log into the Slack mobile or desktop app with multiple separate email accounts.
- I do not remember my Slack email or password?
- Enter your personal email at slack.com/get-started to see all associated Slack workspaces. You can reset your password at innovatorsroom.slack.com/forgot/signin.
